Is this a children’s book? Who is it actually for?

No. I wrote it for adults. It’s in a picture-book format because the people it’s for don’t have the bandwidth for two hundred pages, not because it’s for kids. That said, several early readers have told me they plan to read it with their grandchildren, and it works that way too.

How long does it take to read?

The story takes about ten minutes. With the Scripture on each page and the author’s note, under thirty. That was deliberate. The people this book is for are the people with the least amount of free time.

Does the person need to be a regular churchgoer to get something out of it?

Accepted Answer

No. I wrote it with the non-Christian reader in mind, which is why the Christ figure appears in modern clothes rather than a robe. I see it in two settings: for believers who need reminding to abide in Him, and as a gift to a friend, husband, parent, or sibling who is struggling as a caregiver or in a hard season and may not share your faith. Yet.

Is it tied to a particular denomination or tradition?

Accepted Answer

No. It is a universal Christian book, broadly accessible to every tradition. It is rooted in Jesus’ words in John 15, and it doesn’t belong to any one tradition within Christianity. Early readers from different church backgrounds have all recognized their faith in it.

Who created the illustrations, and how?

Accepted Answer

I believed this story was best told in pictures, and I wanted to get it into my friend’s hands quickly. Not long ago there would have been no economical or expedient way to make a book like this. As the story’s author and the creative director of its art, I used the best image AI available to me at the time, and I spent weeks on it, sixty or seventy hours choosing the style, composing each scene, and refining every image so the tree you initially meet on page one seamlessly evolves into the tree who is flourishing at the end of the story.

What Bible translation do you use?

The World English Bible, a modern public-domain translation. It wasn’t a denominational choice. I chose it for legal reasons only, so Scripture could appear on every page without restriction.

Is there a hardcover or a large-print edition?

Accepted Answer

Not yet. It’s available as an 8.25-inch square paperback and on Kindle.
